The Veterinary Technician Certificate in Principle Techniques of Small Animal Anesthesia, Perioperative Analgesia & Critical Patient Care expires after 5 years unless the holder applies for extension and provides Narkovet Consulting® – VetBloom with proof of 10 CE credits in the areas of small animal anesthesia, critical care and pain management acquired in each 5-year period following the issue and extension date of the certificate, respectively.
The Veterinary Technician Certificate in Principle Techniques of Small Animal Anesthesia, Perioperative Analgesia & Critical Patient Care testifies that a certified veterinary technician has acquired an advanced level of competence in small animal anesthesia, analgesia and perioperative patient care. Unlike certificate holders, Diplomates of the American or European Colleges of Veterinary Anesthesia & Analgesia are Doctors of Veterinary Medicine who have completed advanced specialty training in anesthesiology and have passed an extensive board examination certifying them as experts in the anesthetic care of veterinary patients. Certificate holder shall also not be confused with Veterinary Technician Specialists in Anesthesia and Analgesia (VTS Anesthesia & Analgesia) of the Academy of Veterinary Technicians in Anesthesia and Analgesia (AVTAA), who are highly qualified certified veterinary technicians, who after having provided a minimum of 4500 hours of anesthesia to animal patients passed the AVTAA credentialing process and an extensive written exam. Successful completion of this course does not guarantee passing the AVTAA application (credentialing) process or exam.
